We are an international development consulting firm leading a network of partner firms across multiple countries. We all specialize in research and analysis; monitoring, evaluation, and learning; and institutional strengthening to promote prosperity and resilience, specifically in conflict, post-conflict and fragile states. We are passionate, data-driven professionals committed to making a real difference in some of the most challenging environments in the world. Adroit Associates leadership, most of its staff as well as those of our partners, mainly originate from and still reside in countries either currently in conflict or emerging therefrom.

Founded in 2009, Adroit Associates has delivered over 150 projects across multiple sectors — agriculture and food security, governance and rule of law, economic development, education, and gender — for over 100 clients in Afghanistan. As of 2022, we are joined by partners in the Middle East and West Africa — namely, in Iraq, Mali, Niger, Syria, and Yemen – which, like Afghanistan, share extraordinary crises of conflict and long-standing instability. Teaming our efforts and sharing our knowledge and experience with our partners, our reach now is broad and deep, experientially and intellectually.

Adroit Associates and its partner firms collaborate with governments, civil society organizations, international aid and development organizations, and corporations through a combination of robust, data-driven research and deep, place-based engagement to make international development more effective, efficient, inclusive, ethical, and sustainable. Through our results-driven culture and impact-focused approach, we harness the power of evidence and data to co-design and deliver innovative solutions that contribute to transforming those who need it most: the extraordinarily vulnerable communities we serve.

We aim to enable and empower communities under pressure from conflict or its aftermath, and in fragile states more generally, to reclaim their own agency, build prosperous economies and resilient societies. We do so out of our personal experience coming as we do from such circumstances; by applying our rich knowledge of the local context; by using both tried-and-true as well as innovative methods and ideas; and by bringing to bear cutting-edge technology to deliver tailored solutions that create lasting change.
