We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team. A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides leadership to ensure and enhance organization performance by managing the financial aspects.

The CFO will provide substantive and strategic advice to the AACS Consulting team on risk-intelligent culture and risk management approaches, the Integrated Resources Plan and the Integrated Budget; internal financial planning; and the financial regulatory framework. The following are detailed duties and responsibilities:

As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Chief Financial Officer, under the direct supervision of the President and CEO of the company, will be responsible for the effective and accurate financial management of AACS Consulting day to day business and provide the highest-level financial management reports, status and decision level updates to SMT and stakeholders of AACS Consulting. Additionally, he will be responsible for smooth functioning of the AACS Consulting’ administrative management and talent management. The following are duties and responsibilities of the role but not limited to them:

Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:

Strategy, Planning, and Management

  • Act as Chief Financial Officer and strategic business partner to the senior executive leadership team.
  • Assess and evaluate the company's financial performance concerning long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
    Provide insight and recommendations to both the short-term and long-term growth plans of AACS Consulting.
  • Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information. Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
  • Communicate, engage and interact with the Leadership and Senior Management Team.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company's plan for growth and expansion.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire finance, administrative, accounting, and payroll staff as required.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and round table discussion panel.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Interact with and bring the finance, operation, and administration departments into line with leadership team plans, initiatives, and recommendations.
  • Implement policies, procedures, and processes as the senior leadership team deemed appropriate.

 

Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting

  • Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports, including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division, and weekly cash flow.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
  • Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives and service offerings.
  • Develop and maintain the monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget.
  • Manage financial planning and analysis. Supervise the creation of reports, software implementation, and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Participate in weekly conference calls with the Senior Management and Executive Leadership Team.

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations

  • Supervise the Finance, HR, operation, and Administrative departments to properly ensure all systems, databases, and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.
  • Review and ensure appropriate internal controls, compliance, and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for internal and external purposes.
  • Manage the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of Afghanistan tax compliance and, in addition, the US local, state, and federal tax returns.
  • Ensure QuickBooks compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reviewing supervising financial transactions in QuickBooks online and desktop software.
  • Review all month-end closing activities, including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems
  • Hire, develop, and manage finance, operation, HR, and administration departments.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
  • Coordinate and strategize methods to attain team goals with leadership and senior management team.

Financial Management

  • Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
  • Oversee cash, investments, and asset management area.
  • Maintain excellent banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
  • Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization's plans and operating budgets.

Financial Relations and Policies

  • Engage program and operation teams to develop short-term and long-term plans, projections, and budgets.
  • Represent the company to banks, clients, institutions, investors, public auditors, and officials.
  • Remain current on audit best practices and state, federal, and local laws regarding company operations.

 

Finance, Operation, Administration and Accounting Team Management

  • Mentor and develop a team, manage work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and build an effective and efficient team dynamic.
  • Guide more extensive, cross-divisional teams outside of the direct span of control within the three main company service lines.

Cash Management

  • Oversee weekly cash management, approve large payables, review checks, and authorize payments.
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process.

Any other duties but not limited to the above.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance. ACCA/CPA is a plus point
  • Short-listed candidates may be required to undergo the AACS Consulting Advanced Accountancy & Finance Test.

 

Experience:

  • Background in Consulting industry is desirable.
  • Two to four years minimum experience as a CFO in a reputable organization.
  • 08 + years of full accounting or finance experience.
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and SEC reporting.
  • QuickBooks online and desktop version experience is required.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance-related issues.
  • High-level technical experience in accounting financial management.
  • Professional-level English language competency is required.

 

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Pashto and Dari; working knowledge of English is highly required.
